What sets the minimum: the yarn dye lot. Every color is its own lot, so fewer colors per style keeps the minimum down.

What it costs

What a sweater costs to make

Yarn, gauge and the number of colors move a sweater’s price most. We don’t print a figure we can’t back.

Typical cut, make and trim

With your quote

We have no live CMT figure for sweaters, so we don’t print one. The factory quotes from your yarn, gauge and color count.

Where the factory price goes

  • Cut, make, trim20–30%

  • Factory margin8–15%

  • Trims and packaging8–12%

  • Wastage and rejects3–6%

    Making knitwear in India

Five questions brands ask before a winter run.

Wool sweaters usually need 250–400 pieces per style, because the yarn dye lot sets the floor and each color is its own lot. Our group minimum is 100 per style. These are market ranges, not quotes; we confirm the exact figure with the factory.

It depends on the yarn, the gauge and the colors, and we have no live figure to print. Our cost calculator has no sweater type yet. Send the brief and the factory quotes; our own fee is quoted in writing before any work starts.

Early. Orders for winter stock queue up in summer. Plan 3–5 weeks for sampling, then 12–16 weeks from approved sample to goods shipped on a first order, and 8–10 weeks on a repeat.

Diwali (October or November, date moves every year) closes most factories for 1–2 weeks.

Ludhiana in Punjab: wool, acrylic, sweaters, winterwear and socks. It is the only real winter-weight cluster in India at scale, and the wrong place for lightweight summer product.

Yes. Tick both on the form. We place each style with the factory built for it, usually sweaters in Ludhiana and cotton tees in Tiruppur, and each factory bills you directly.

    Planning knitwear? Brief it early.

One short form, read by a person on our team. If a factory in our group is built for it, we place it. If not, we say so, free.
